This paper examines the effect of the removal of the Everything But Arms (EBA) and the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) programs on Cambodia’s unemployment rate, by examining published trade and unemployment data to determine the level of impact of the removal of the two trade programs. Additionally, the gathered data will also be evaluated to assess its accuracy and reliability for the research. The findings of this study indicate a significant economic and employment impact resulting from the removal of the trade programs and COVID-19. However, 2022 data shows a promising growth rate in both trade and the economy, suggesting that this supposed punishment the West imposed on Cambodia has limited effects on the country as a whole.
